It started with the study of Cultural Anthropology and Non-Western Sociology in Utrecht. I specialize in Gender and Intercultural Communication. During that time I also learned to speak Spanish and Russian. Immediately afterwards I left my native country. My travels started out as temporary, but for some reason they never end.
I have lived in Spain, Morocco, Russia, Serbia and (now) Kyrgyzstan.
I have worked in the Marketing, Sales, Transport, Logistics, Trade and Finance sectors. Now I am area manager of 26 countries for a Spanish company.
What does a social scientist do in those branches? Just his job. After all, I have had to deal with people from different cultures throughout my career.
In addition to that, I write.
I live in countries where Dutch is not spoken. Therefore, In my spare time I prefer to use Dutch. No matter how good you are in other languages, you always express yourself best in your native language. A Dutch text touches me on a different level than the same text in English, German or Russian. That's why all my stories are originally in Dutch.
I like to talk about anthropological phenomena. Anthropology has been my lifelong fascination and I enjoy sharing it with others. In my experience, the best way to tell about cultures is in story form. Reading a story allows my audience not only to learn about exotic lifestyles and cultures, but to experience them virtually too.
Combined, this has led to the series of stories on this site.
